¡¡¡¡ Beijing International Tourist Cultural Festival The Third Beijing International Tourist Cultural Festival was held from September 27 to October 1. Approximately 3,000 folk artists from 22 provinces and autonomous regions and 35 countries were attracted to the festival, adding more color for the tourist fever in the holidays with their unique skill. ????The festival was co-sponsored by CNTA and Beijing Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by Beijing Tourism Administration, Beijing Tourism Group and Air China. In addition to retaining exquisite contents of the previous two festivals, this festival was more geared to ordinary tourists, luring their participation, and focusing on national characteristics. The opening ceremony included many kinds of activities, such as foreign folk songs and dances, foreign country plays, performance at Ping'an Avenue, Travel Consulting Meeting, Community Cultural Square Get-Together, Beijing International Gourmet Week, Tour Shopping Week, Tours with Special Themes, and Closing Ceremony. A parading procession in splendid attire is a key part of the festival, mainly participated by ordinary people. Some 10 groups were organized to show Beijing-flavor programs, such as dragon dance, lion dance, stilts, clamshell dance, shuffling flags, and kite dance, corresponding with foreign performers.
