¡¡¡¡ General Introduction Snow is a beautiful gift of Nature to mankind. Skiing in winter is an enjoyable way to spend one's weekends and holidays, and to exercise. The snow scenery is an attraction itself. North China is a vast cold area in winter and an ideal place for skiing. There are many well equipped skiing resorts such as Yabuli in Heilongjiang Province, Xiling Snow Mountain in Sichuan Province, Changbai Mountains in Jilin Province, and Chongli Ski Ground in Hebei Province. Heilongjiang Yabuli Skiing Yabuli Ski Ground is the first international standard skiing course in China. It has 15 ski runs for senior, junior, and elementary levels and they make up a total length of 30 kilometers. There are also summer ski runs of 2,680 meters, the longest in the world, imported from Germany. The grounds are well equipped. Tourists can rent skis there and accommodation is good with various star-rates. Transportation is convenient. All skiers are welcomed. Jilin Changbai Mountains Skiing The annual and daily snowfall and duration of accumulated snow in Changbai Mountains are the highest in China. Accumulated snow can last for 258 days and the ski ground is open 7 months. There are 2 mountain ski runs with a total length of 3,000 meters and two cable lines 600 meters long to carry people onto the mountain. The environment is good; the air fresh and the snow white. It is a treat to ski in forests on a vast sea of snow. Sichuan Xiling Snow Mountain Skiing Xiling Snow Mountain is 115 kilometers from Chengde. It is 2,100-2,200 meters above sea level and is part of a mountainous plateau. It is the largest ski ground in South China and has the best facilities. It can cater to those who wish to try activities such as single board skiing, sledging, motorskiing, hot-air ballooning, and gliding. Zhangjiakou "Marching Toward the New Century, Thousands of People Skiing Fitness Week" and Chengde Summer Resort Ice and Snow Festival Activities will be held at Saibei Ski ground and Cuiyunshan Ski ground at Chongli in Zhangjiakou, Summer Resort, and Weichang Saihanba Ski Ground, they include an opening ceremony with 2,000 people skiing at Cuiyunshan or Saibei Ski Ground, ice sculpturing, various ice and snow sports such as skiing, swimming, ice sledging, goat sledging, horse sledging. There are also professional skiing shows, skiing competitions, skiing lessons, motorskiing on the snow grounds, barbecues, fireworks, bonfire parties, hunting in the snow covered mountains, and visits to the Cedar Scenic Area. The winter scenery is also something to appreciate. Floating down the Yellow River Valley, Shanxi June, 2001 is the month for the trip. This is a water sports tourist activity which first started in Hukou Scenic Zone of the Yellow River in 1992. It is thrilling, dangerous, and interesting. It includes many tourist items of visiting Mengment, playing with waves, adventure to Hukou, and Sanmen floating. The Yellow River valley ecological route demonstrates the typical topography and landforms of the Loess Plateau. Other interesting aspects of the tour include the folk customs and folk legends, as well as the ancient culture and history of the river.
