Chengdu has a long history of about 2,300 years. In about 250 BC of the first Qin Dynasty (221 BC¨C206 BC), the satrap of Chengdu Li Bing had taken charge to build the well-known Dujiangyan Irrigation Project in the plain. The area hence has become a 'Heavenly State' with fertile farmlands and rich produces. It was also reputed as one of the five most prosperous cities across China. It even created many other 'firsts' including usage of paper currency, printing and weaving technique, official schools and other aspects in China or even around the world.
