03/10/2004 sightseeing
what a lazy day... actually I wanted to spend a couple of hours on the internet to find some papers that could be helpful for my masters thesis, but then I woke up in the morning and the sun was shining... ... and I decided to hop on a chao phrao express boat and do some sightseeing as there are still a couple of places I haven't seen before. so I spent about an hour at wat arun (temple of the dawn), listening to a buddhist monk speaking about the dharma. then, I headed to the national museum (which was closed when I came last time, because it was a monday), entered the library of the thammasat university (hoping to find free internet access and a computer science library, but actually I didn't find anything useful), and visited a little week-end-market (not the famous one). yeah, and I decided that I am actually enjoying myself in bangkok after all, even though I didn't like bangkok that much on my previous visits. so that's the good news. the bad news is that I still don't have any news from the AIT. but I will visit the university next wednesday to meet one of the responsible persons there. oh, and I started my language school on saturday. it's pretty much fun. the school has a quite an interesting approach to language learning. but I will explain this later. today, I will just go back home and sleep, because I need to get up early tomorrow (7.30) to get to school. and I have not been getting up early for the last two months (except one or two times in india to catch an early bus).
