today I moved into a lovely guesthouse. it is not in the khao san area itself, but a bit outside in a little residential zone that seems like miles away from the traffic and noise of the tourist district, even though it is just a short distance. the guesthouse is owned by an old thai women who speaks only little english. so this is where I am going to stay until I know more about my chances to be accepted at the AIT. then, depending on their answer, I will either move into an apartment (most of those I have visited are very cold and unfriendly) or make a good deal with the thai lady in my guesthouse to stay longer. yesterday I spent the whole day with finding an apartment. most of this apartments have a/c, tv, but they lack the coziness of guesthouses. besides, they are not in a tourist area, so the food you can get in the restaurants is a bit scary sometimes. that's why I decided to remain withing walking distance to good and cheap food that has been prepared for tourists (it's not that local thai food is not tasty, but they add things like raw meat, frog heads, and other undefinable objects which I don't like particularily) as long as possible. because once at the AIT I will have to eat what I can get on the campus...
