here you can find some photos of colombo, and here some of bangkok, but they don't show the dust on the streets, the almost unbearable heat, the humidity, the noise, and the smell...

by the way, bangkok seems to be much more westernized than in march, but this could just be my personal impression which is influenced by india and sri lanka. the traffic seem much less annoying and there are less tuk-tuks, but much more a/c-taxis.

oh, and how can I possibly write an entry about bangkok without mentioning the lovely khao san rd, that got a completely new pavement, so it lost it's run-down look. I am not sure if the backpackers really agree with this... I haven't actually been walking along the khao san rd yet, as I was much too busy with going to the siam square area, but I got a glimpse of it from the bus this morning
