The Salt Museum in Zigong

29/9/2004 bangkok by indian airlines

the flight that brought me from chennai (madras) to bangkok was entirely crammed up to the last seat. ok, this does not mean much if you don't know that indian airlines put at least the double amount of passengers on their planes compared to other airlines. I hardly found place for my legs and I just felt like on a local bus in sri lanka. even the people behaved like on busses, throwing the garbage on the floor and making loud spitting noises. but as I was fairly tired after sitting over five hours in the airport in madras (because I had booked a connection to my bangkok flight from colombo, as indian airlines won't refund me the ticket I had purchased in india before I knew I was going to leave india early). so, my flight was a bit complicated, as I travelled at night and in chennai you are only allowed to check-in two hours before the flight leaves (, which means, I spent actually three hours in front of the airport). I then arrived in bangkok at 4.45 in the morning. and because guesthouses won't accept guests at this time, I was waiting another 1.5 hours in bangkok for the first bus to take me into the city. but, finally I arrived safely and after a couple of hours of sleep (in a new guesthouse, because my old one had some problems with cockroaches in march when I was here last time), I actually feel like a new person.

this afternoon I might go and visit the language school I will probably attend for the next four weeks. and then, once I have taken this decision I should start looking for an appartment as most guesthouses are not very well suited for longterm residents. furthermore, I would like to cook for myself sometimes.

oh, and I am still waiting for the universites in bangkok and fribourg to tell me whether I'll be able to start my master's thesis some day.
