06/9/2004 good-bye delhi
that's it, we will finally leave delhi today. really looking forward to it, actually. all this required a good bit of organization. originally, we planned to go to goa today and we had already booked our tickets, but then it turned out that they were not issued for today, but for tomorrow. and going to goa for just three days doesn't make much sense, so we tried to get a ticket to south india for today. and that's why we are going to board the karnataka express to bangalore tonight. of course, this will change all our plans, but finally, if we learnt one thing here in india, then that plans simply never work out. that's also part of the indian lifestyle;0) going to bangalore means spending another two nights and days in an indian train. nothing to really look forward to actually, except maybe for the tea-sellers who come running through the train every ten minutes shouting "chai, chai, tea, chai". the chai (tea) on indian trains is really delicious. and you can get food whenever you want from the kitchen. so, that's not too bad. the only real problem are the cockroaches and the fellow passengers which can be a bit nerving. luckily, there are no rats like on indonesian ferries and no sacks full of dried fish as in busses just about everywhere in asia... before leaving tonight, we will go and have a really good dinner at the 'pizza hut', which is probably the best western food you can get in india (believe me, I've tried a couple of things like spaghetti and sandwiches).
