03/8/2004 india: first steps
I stepped onto indian ground yesterday when I landed in bangalore one hour after the scheduled time (, which seems to be perfectly normal here . fabian and punit came to pick me up at the airport and it turned out that a very famous indian cricket player was on the same flight. unfortunately, I didn't recognize him, but punit was very excited about it, so I think it must have been a famous player. I don't really like cricket, but it seems that sri lanka played a good match last week against a weak indian team. bangalore is a bit of a disappointment. I thought it would be a great city with a very large business district and neat buildings. but after all, it turns out to be just a city. a bit like colombo, just larger and cleaner. tomorrow we will board the train to delhi (40 hours) and then we will continue to shimla (10 hours). getting the train tickets was a bit more difficult than in switzerland, but finally we got them, so that's what actually counts...
