Guilin City Hosts More Tourists
Guilin, one of China's most popular tourism destinations, hosted more than 10 million tourists this year, a record high. Of the total, overseas tourists made up 900,000, said a local tourism official. Guilin, a city in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China, chalked up 4.5 billion yuan (about US$ 542 million) in tourism revenue this year, said the official. With a history of more than 2,000 years, Guilin is renowned for its green mountains, clear water and strangely shaped stone formations. The city has also played host to a great number of foreign heads of states, including former American president Bill Clinton. (Xinhua News Agency )
