Night Market in Dunhuang Night Market in Dunhuang At the west end of the Hexi Corridor, Dunhuang is the iocale of the Mogao Grottoes, a sorld famous treasury of art. In the history of China, Dunhuang had been an important communications hub between the East and the West. In Chinese classical literary works, Yang Pass and Yumen Pass are places of tragic heroism. Dunhuang has magnificent landscapes and historical sites. Dunhuang also has a rich and colorful night life. From April 1 to October 31 every year, night markets are open in Shazhou Market and nearby streets of the city. In the night markets, local flavor snacks, handicrafts and souvenirs are available. There are also music tea houses. Local snacks include rice noodles soup with mutton, yellow noodles, beef noodies and cold flat bean noodles . Replicas of sculptural works and frescoes in Mogao Grottoes ard liked by tourists. It is indeed a pleasure to stroll on the street, or take a rest in a tea house, enjoying the snacks and watching the great variety of costumes.
