กกกก Yongding Earthen Towers Yongding county of Fujian is famous for the unique earthen towers, which serve as residential quarters. The towers are built on stone foundations, the walls are composed of rammed earth and the roofs covered with tiles. Most towers are round, while the rest are sqrare. There are nearly 1,000 round towers in Yongding County alone. Zhencheng Tower, built in 1912, covers an area of 500 square meters. Its outer circle has four floors, with 48 rooms on each. The inner circle has two floors, comprising a wheat barn ,an ancestral temple, a theater, a school and a garden .As many as 100 families live in this tower. For their unique style and structure, the earthen towers are praised by Chinese and overseas experts as rare examples of ancient Chinese architecture.
