Fujian-Putian-Mazu Temple
Putian-Mazu Temple The temple of Mazu, or goddess of sea, on Meizhou lsland is the mecca for Chinese sailors in the world and a great tourist attraction. The original name of Mazu was Lin Mo (960-987). In her lifetime Lin Mo saved many fishermen and merchant boats on the sea. She was respected as the goddess of sea after her death. The temple attracts large crowds of pilgrims on the 23rd day of the 3rd lunar month and the 9th day of the 9th lunar month.
