Linfen has basically a continental climate, that is characterised by long, cold, dry winters and short, hot, rainy summers. Spring is fairly unpredictable, with sharp daily temperature swings and frequent sand storms, while autumn is fairly mild. The best time to visit is usually between April and early October, however in any season it is wise to be prepared for the sand storms that sometimes sweep through this area.
