| Day | Itinerary | | Day01 | USA - Tokyo | | Anticipation fills the air as we begin our vacation. The flight crosses the international date line as you spend the night aboard. | | Day 02 | Arrive Tokyo | | The flight touches down at Tokyo's Narita airport. After baggage retrieval and customs, you are met by a Ritz representative and taken by motorcoach to the luxury accommodations. | | Day 03 | Tokyo (AB, L) | | Discovery of Japan begins as you take in a half-day city tour of Tokyo. Drive by the picturesque Imperial Palace, home to the emperor and his royal family (we are not allowed inside). Continue on to the Asakusa Kannon Temple, the oldest temple in Tokyo built to house the Goddess of Mercy statue. Take an elevator up to the observation deck at Tokyo Tower where you take in a panoramic view of the sprawling metroplis below. The tour ends at Ginza where free time is provided to experience shopping at the most expensive real estate in all of Japan. A local Sukiyaki lunch is provided. | | Day 04 | Tokyo (AB) | | The day has been freed up to provide time with which to explore Tokyo on your own. The advanced subway system affords easy access to the entire city. | | Day 05 | Tokyo - Beijing (AB) | | Transfer to the airport to board the short flight to Beijing, the capital city of a modern China. After arrival we meet our tourguide and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure. | | Day 06 | Beijing (AB, L, DP) | | Over 13 million people call Beijing home. Beijing was founded in 1045 BC and has been the capital of China for 800 years. Today's full itinerary has you traveling about town seeing all the major attractions that the city has to offer. Tiananmen Square is a famous landmark and is in the record books as being the world's largest public square. Next is the Forbidden City, so called because commoners in were not allowed in the abode of the emperor. Continue on to the Summer Palace, where the emperor and his royal family relaxed during the hot Beijing summers. After the full day of sightseeing, relax and take in a delectable Peking Duck Feast. | | Day 07 | Beijing (AB, L, DH) | | The Great Wall meanders its way 4000 miles across China's northern regions and stands with distinction as being one of the world's seven great man-made wonders. The Wall is reputedly visible from the Moon! Access to the Great Wall is provided via gondola cable cars. After spending ample time walking the Wall, descend later to visit the the Sacred Way to Ming Tomb Museum, surveying the precious items entombed with Ming emperors. Dinner is served at the hotel. | | Day 08 | Beijing - Shanghai (AB, L, DH) | | Before departing Beijing, the group stops at the Temple of Heaven. Here the emperors came to pray each year to the heavens for a bountiful harvest. Arrive at Shanghai, China's most populous city and also its most modern. Dinner is served at the hotel. | | Day 09 | Shanghai (AB, L, DS) | | Dazzling and dynamic, Shanghai today shows many signs of ample international influences since the turn of the 20th century. Nowhere is this more apparent than at the Bund, a mile-long stretch along the Huangpu River. Lined by architecture of European design, the area shows off the flair with which Shanghainese live life. The city tour also includes a visit to the Ming Dynasty Yu Garden, considered to be one of the four great Chinese gardens. The bus will drive through Nanjing Road, a bustling shopping area locals frequent. After dinner this evening, cap off the day by attending a performance of exciting Chinese Acrobatics. | | Day 10 | Shanghai - Bangkok (AB, L, DS) | | Leave the mainland today, bidding a fond farewell to China. Board an international flight to arrive at Bangkok, the "City of Angels," where you are met and greeted at the airport. Transfer to the famous Oriental Hotel to check in, wash up, and change before attending a Thai Classical Dinner Show. | | Day 11 | Bangkok (AB, L) | | Founded in 1782 by the first king of the Chakri dynasty, Bangkok is Thailand's capital city and also its cultural, spiritual, commercial and political center. Buddhism is one of the cornerstones of Thai culture, and you can certainly appreciate the level of devotion as you view the Emerald Buddha Temple. Also admire the royal splendor of the Grand Palace and Coronation Hall. Later in the day, the group is given an opportunity to shop at the Gems Factory. | | Day 12 | Bangkok (AB, L) | | Today, we explore the world famous Damnern Saduak Floating Market on Bangkok's timeless klongs (canals). The afternoon is free at leisure. Some of us may choose to take an optional excursion to the Rose Garden. | | Day 13 | Bangkok - Hong Kong (AB) | | Hong Kong was incorporated to be a part of China during the Qin dynasty in 221BC. It was a small fishing village that evolved into an international trading center. Hong Kong was ceded to Great Britain in 1842 and became its colony in the far east. It was not until 1997 that Hong Kong was returned back to China. Today, it is the "Asia's World City" and serves as China's shining example of international commerce. Upon arrival to Hong Kong, you're met by the Ritz guide and transferred to the hotel. | | Day 14 | Hong Kong (AB) | | Take a half-day tour of Hong Kong the highlights of which are Stanley Market, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen's Floating Community and a cable car ride up Victoria Peak to catch a panoramic vista of Hong Kong Harbor. The rest of the day is free for leisure activities. Optional "Cultural Kaleidoscope" programs such as Taichi classes, Feng Shui classes, Chinese Tea Appreciation, Kung Fu Corner, and much more are available at no cost to you, courtesy of the Hong Kong Tourism Board. | | Day 15 | Hong Kong (AB) | | Hong Kong enjoys an international reputation and has long been a center of commerce, the perfect gateway between East and West. Among its many nicknames, Hong Kong is called the "Asia's Shopping Paradise." Take some time today to do some last minute souvenir shopping or explore the city on our own. Among the destinations that may interest us are Disneyland, Lantau Island, or Macau. Free museum passes and island hopping ferry passes are available courtesy of the Hong Kong Tourism Board upon request. | | Day 16 | Hong Kong - USA (AB) | | Sadly, your China and Asia vacation is over all too soon as the group transfers to the airport to go home. Board the homebound international widebody jetliner to re-cross the international date line and arrive back at home. |
