　　 Jiageng Park was formerly a little island on the southeast seaside of Jimei. On the island sits a small temple called Palace of Legendary Turtle's Head (Aotou Gong) or Thousand Li Palace (Qianli Gong). It was destroyed during the war against the Japanese. And it was on the very ruins of this temple that Mr Chen Jiageng had the Palace of Legendary Turtle's Head erected in 1950. the Palace covers an area of 8990 square meters and consists of three parts-the porch, the Monument of Liberation and the Mausoleum of Mr Chen Jiageng Sets of stereo relief of lifelike stone figures in different postures stand on either side of the porch. The craftsmanship is so superb that is excels the force of the Nature. Jimei Monument of Liberation erecting in the middle of the garden is made of granite. The base consists of two flights. The lower flight has eight steps while the upper flight has three steps, implying the eight-year Resistance War against Japan and the three-year Liberation War respectively. The Mausoleum of Mr Chen Jiageng to the south of the Monument is now one of the major historic sites under the protection of the State. The tombstone is built with water-polished granite with 15 relieves depicting the important experience during Mr Chen Jiageng's first decades of years of life carved on it. Both the memorial pavilion in front of the tomb and the screen wall at the back are built with blue stones to create an atmosphere of solemn silence. More than 50 inscriptions and antithetical couplets written by the Party and State Leaders and international distinguished figures are carved on the low walls, balustrades and pavilion pillars.
